Windows 98
Modem Configuration using Windows 98



Step 1
From the Start Menu, select control panel then click on Modems, you will get this screen.
Next, click on Dialing Properties.
Step 2
Check the "For Long distance calls dial using this calling card" and select British Telecom (UK) from the drop down menu.
Step 3
This screen shows the checked "For Long distance calls dial using this calling card" and selected British Telecom (UK) from the drop down menu.
Then click on the "Calling Card" button.
Step 4
You will be presented with the screen below, enter you BT Chargecard account number and PIN in the Personal ID Number field (144 will be pre-filled), if you are planning on using the card abroad, the applicable country access number should be entered in the international calls field.
Next click on Long Distance Calls.
Step 5
You will get this screen which should be filled in as below. NB:the time in the first "then wait for" box may need to be adjusted depending on the speed of your modem and allowing for the Chargecard calling prompt.
Then click "OK".
Follow the same procedure for International calls.The time may again need to be adjusted depending again on your modem speed and also the telephony system in the host country again allowing for the Chargecard calling prompt. Again click "OK".
Step 6
You will be returned to this screen.
Again click "OK".
Step 7
Your dialing properties screen will look like this.
Overtype the words "New Location" at the top of the screen with your choice of title for this. Click on Apply, you will then have the option to use your BT Chargecard to dial your internet connection when you click on your normal dialer screen.
Setup completed.
